Carlos Jacinto da Silva (BRA)
Carlos Jacinto da Silva was born in Brazil. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in physics from the Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL), Alagoas, Brazil, in 2000 and 2002, respectively, and the Ph.D degree from the Instituto de Física de São Carlos, Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, in 2006. Since August 2006 he has been a professor at the Institute of Physics (IP) at UFAL. In the period of 2010-2013, he was the coordinator of the Bachelor of Physics at the IP/UFAL and was director of the same institute from April/2014 to June/2022. He was the general program coordinator of the XXXIV Meeting of Physicists of the North and Northeast of the Brazilian Society of Physics, which took place in 2019 with more than 500 participants; organizer of the Symposium on Nanomaterials and Nanomedicine of the XIII B-MRS Meeting (2014). He is head of the Group of Nano-Photonics and Imaging and coordinator of the Laboratory of Transmission Electron Microscopy (LabMET)/UFAL. Professor Carlos has expertise in the physics area, focusing on optical materials and spectroscopic properties, working mainly in the following topics: Optical spectroscopy; nonlinear optics; biophotonics; thermal, mechanical, and optical properties of materials; nanoscience and nanotechnology; fluorescence and thermal images. He is the author or co-author of over 140 referred papers; has presented more than 20 invited talks in conferences and universities/institutes; advised around 20 master´s dissertations and doctoral theses and supervised more than 10 doctors. He has over 4,400 citations and H-factor 37 on the web of science and over 5,500 citations and H-factor 41 on the Google Scholar.
